Our Intake Process

We would love to connect with you and see how we can help.

Here is how to get started...

Exploring

We offer free 15 minute consultation calls for prospective clients. These calls give you an opportunity to share with us what you are looking for, ask questions you may have, and overall to see if we are a good fit for your child and your family.  To set up a call you can contact us here, email us directly at wholesomehealingforall@gmail.com, or call 443-286-3578.

Onboarding

Once you decide you'd like to get started we will gather basic information about the child and parent(s) / caregiver(s) so that we can get you in our system and get our intake forms out. The family will then be emailed to connect them with the assigned therapist so that they can set up an intake appointment.

Intake

The intake appointment is for parent(s) / caregiver(s) only.

At the intake you can expect the following:

  • The therapist will ask you questions about your child.

  • You will be able to ask questions you have.

  • The therapy process and structure of treatment will be reviewed, to include how communication works between therapist and family, typical length of treatment, stages of treatment, etc.

  • Practice policies will be reviewed, to include billing and scheduling.

  • The therapist will confirm a standing appointment for your child.

Having their session on the same day and time each week is very important. Not only is it helpful for scheduling, it also serves as an anchor that your child will come to rely on (increasing structure and reducing anxiety).

Therapy Process

Once the intake appointment is completed, then your child can start with weekly sessions with their assigned therapist.

The first 4 sessions with your child serve as our evaluation period. These first sessions allow the therapist to build rapport, provide time for the child to develop trust in the therapist and in their therapy space, and allow for observation over time. After these four sessions the therapist will meet with parents / caregivers for a parent consultation meeting. This provides an opportunity for parents / caregivers to share how things have been going at home over the course of the month - as the child has been engaging in therapy, and as parents may have been working on new ways of engaging with their child, implementing new strategies, and / or making other changes based on their initial intake / communication with the therapist.

From this point on we like to meet with parents / caregivers approximately every 4 – 6 sessions, to continue to bridge what is happening in the therapy space, with how things are going at home. This is a cooperative process to help not only your child, but your whole family thrive!
