Parenting & Family Services

Parent Consultations

All of our providers work very closely with parents to communicate how their child is doing in therapy, and to discuss ways to support their child's growth and progress at home. We deeply believe in parents as the experts on their child(ren) and embrace a collaborative approach in working with children and their families. We pride ourselves on the quality and dependability of our communication and make meeting with parents a regular part of the child's therapeutic process.

Family Sessions

Family therapy focuses on the roles and dynamics within a family and on improvement in relationships among family members. Family therapy can include any combination of family members.  The goal is to help family members understand each other, support each other, and work through difficult situations.
We often find that with family therapy, negative beliefs, patterns and feedback loops can be changed, resulting in more positive beliefs and experiences, and creating deep relief and lasting change within the family system.  We tailor family therapy to meet each family's needs and utilize a variety of expressive arts modalities in family work.

Child Parent Relationship Therapy

CPRT is a play therapy-based treatment program for children presenting with behavioral, emotional, social, and attachment disorders and focuses on the importance of a strong connection between parent and child. When participating in CPRT, parents will take part in 8 sessions held within a supportive individual or group environment and led by a play therapist trained in this evidenced-based treatment. Parents can expect to gain effective parenting skills to best meet their child’s emotional and behavioral needs. We can also provide modifications of this approach as needed to work with parents individually or to address specialized concerns.

Child-Parent Relationship Therapy may be beneficial for those parents who:

  • Experience a disconnect within the parent-child relationship

  • Feel frustrated with their child’s behaviors

  • Struggle to understand their child’s emotions and behaviors

  • Are searching for ways to support their child’s socioemotional development

  • Want to provide more opportunities for their children to thrive both socially and emotionally

  • Struggle with responding to their child’s difficult behaviors

  • Feel out of control in interactions with their child

  • Want to gain support from other parents in the community

  • Want to feel closer to their child

Here is what parents have to say about our programs!

Wholesome Healing Room.jpg

This program is like the capstone course of a major field of study but completely un- intimidating and fully applicable - all wrapped up in a cozy warm hug.

Most important, and completely unexpected, was the fact that they made us moms feel fully seen, valued, and held space for us as individuals. It was such a warm and gentle environment - a true contrast to my daily life for the past decade. They took time to slow down and meet us where we were at and gently guide us through this information all the while building us up and teaching self compassion.

The fact that this class was a group environment was so important. I was hesitant at first to really explore more vulnerable topics that came up but finding moms who truly get it and are in the trenches with you is a completely underrated and undervalued part of supporting an intense child (and parent!)

And if you’re thinking this isn’t for you because your kid is way more than “intense” - this program IS for you. It’s the real deal for those of us in the daily battles that we are afraid to tell anyone about, and that we water down when we share with friends and family. These practitioners really get it and this program REALLY helps.

I previously signed up for and attended any training and class I could to try and better understand my intense kid over the past decade. This one summed up years of searching and thousands upon thousands of dollars of therapies and consults.
