Bethany Taylor is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who graduated from The University of Michigan School of Social Work in 2018 with a focus on trauma, play therapy intervention, and attachment between parents and children. Prior to graduate school Bethany worked as a Recreational Therapist for five years in an adult inpatient psychiatric unit as well as a partial hospitalization program. After graduation, Bethany went on to work in a community mental health center in South Bend, Indiana to provide psychotherapy to victims of childhood abuse and to help reunify children with their families. After that, she worked in oncology social work in Providence, Rhode Island for a year as well as ran psychoeducational groups in an adult partial hospitalization program. Bethany then created her own private practice in Rhode Island, seeing children and families.Â
Bethany specializes in working with childhood anxiety and helping children heal from trauma. She has specialized training and supervision in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and completed her certification in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) through the National Institute of Relationship Enhancement (NIRE) in 2025. She has advanced training and certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and has experience working with physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Bethany also received training in The Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) in 2026. TRM is a neuro-science informed somatic therapeutic approach used to treat both adults and children. Bethany uses TRM to teach nervous system regulation skills and helps individuals process traumatic experiences by focusing on physical sensations rather than retelling a story. Bethany has a particular interest in working with birth trauma, trauma triggers that present as explosive episodes in parenting, and helping the whole family thrive by learning skills for nervous system regulation. Bethany also has training in various play therapy modalities, including synergetic play therapy and filial play therapy. Other specialized trainings that Bethany has completed include attachment-based therapy interventions, infant mental health, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and working with aggression. She uses a Person-Centered approach to tailor treatment to meet the unique needs of each individual and family and partners with parents to reach a deeper level of understanding of their child's emotional needs.Â
Bethany is dedicated to being authentic in the playroom and creating a nonjudgmental space for each individual and family that she works with. She believes in the ability of all individuals to thrive.Â
