Bethany Taylor is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who graduated from The University of Michigan School of Social Work in 2018 with a focus on trauma, play therapy intervention, and attachment between parents and children. Prior to graduate school Bethany worked as a Recreational Therapist for five years in an adult inpatient psychiatric unit as well as a partial hospitalization program. After graduation, Bethany went on to work in a community mental health center in South Bend, Indiana to provide psychotherapy to victims of childhood abuse and to help reunify children with their families. After that, she worked in oncology social work in Providence, Rhode Island for a year as well as ran psychoeducational groups in an adult partial hospitalization program. Bethany then created her own private practice in Rhode Island, seeing children and families.
Bethany specializes in working with childhood anxiety and helping children heal from trauma. She has advanced training and certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and has experience working with physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Bethany also has training in various play therapy modalities, including synergetic play therapy. Other specialized trainings that Bethany has completed include attachment based therapy interventions, infant mental health, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and working with aggression. She uses a Person-Centered approach to tailor treatment to meet the unique needs of each individual and family and partners with parents to reach a deeper level of understanding of their child's emotional needs.
Bethany is dedicated to being authentic in the playroom and creating a non judgemental space for each individual and family that she works with.
