Greta Lunsford-Poe
Intern
Master's Level Social Work Intern
Greta is a graduate social work intern at Wholesome Healing. She is currently completing her final year in University of Maryland - Baltimore's Clinical Social Work Master's program. Prior to pursuing her Master's degree, Greta graduated with Honors from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Psychology. She also double-minored in Visual Arts and International Studies. Greta is a firm believer in the idea that one's childhood is formative to one's entire life. Through a particular emphasis on trauma-informed care and on maintaining a person-in-environment perspective, Greta hopes to promote a therapeutic relationship in which practitioner and client meet as equals. She is pursuing Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) certificates, and has past experience in training therapy dogs. She is also interested in incorporating several forms of art therapy into her practice. Overall, Greta seeks to cultivate a highly holistic therapeutic model in which neuroscience and humanistic theory go hand in hand.
Greta is motivated to help clients dealing with significant life difficulties complicated by loss, grief, chronic illness, depression, anxiety, OCD, military deployment, athletic or academic performance pressures, and more. In attunement with a client-centered approach, Greta believes that every human being is endowed with the wisdom and power to change their circumstances. She knows that you can do big things, even when you feel small-- and she hopes, with time, that you will see it too.
Greta is currently practicing under the supervision of Brooke Riffe.
