Sidney Somberg,
LGPC
Therapist
Sidney graduated from Loyola University Maryland with her Masters in Clinical Professional Counseling in 2023. She received her undergraduate degree at Towson University where she majored in Psychology and minored in Health Science. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults through the utilization of Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. In the past, Sidney has helped individuals struggling with substance abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault, and other mental health conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Depression, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
Sidney believes taking a more holistic approach by treating the body, spirit, heart and mind is key to fostering a satisfactory and consistent life. In utilizing this approach, Sidney assesses the client’s lifestyle to help determine if habits such as nutrition, screen time and movement play a role in the individual’s behavior, emotions and overall well being. In many cases, she uses a nature-based approach by integrating the restorative properties of the natural world with Play Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. Sidney strives to create a safe and welcoming environment so she can work harmoniously with the client and their family to develop an appropriate and attainable plan of action tailored to the client’s needs.
Sidney is currently under supervision with Vanessa Kellner, and is working towards her credentials as a Registered Play Therapist and Child-Centered Play Therapist.
